Yes, you can use up to XP2000+ with this method.

I wouldn't recommend it though. If you pick up a "AGOIA" XP1600+, it will clock almost to the same speed as a XP2000+, and cost alot less.

P.S. Avoid chips labeled "AGOGA".

Haris, let us know how it went, even if it failed.
People tend to only show success in forums like these :)

ThanX for your help pzed22.

I have bought an XP 1600+ (brown AGOIA) but I am not able tu unlock it. I have to use graphite conductive paint, because all the local stores were out of silver conductive paint. I think the el. resistance of my paint if too high? Am I right? Or I am making another mistake?
Tomorrow I am going to buy the silver conductive paint. I hope....

I tried to use the "graphite" several times, but it was impossible to set 11 or higher. When I set lower then default 10.5, the system did not started.
Any suggestions? Especially about the insulation of the laser cuts before painting the conductive stuff...What can I use for this insulation? Is it necessary?
THANX

Insulation of the gaps is very important! Make sure you don't get any conductor in the gaps, or you'll short all the L1s to ground (bad!).

This is what I did, but you can find lots of different methods on the net:
Light a candle, drip some wax on a plate, then rub a Q-tip in it and let it DRY.
Now rub the Q-tip with dried wax over the L1s. Little wax bits will start to fill up the gaps. I found this to be safer than super glue.

I'm not sure about graphite conductor. You shouldn't make more than about 200ohm across the length of the L1's. Silver is probably best.

Hi Pzed22,
can you exactly tell me, when I have to switch from Aj27 to Vcc.
While post or power off or in BIOS?
and if it is while power off why it can't be permanent connected?

thanx

PS: I have Athlon XP 1600+ stepping AGKGA. Is he overclockable?

(Geändert von Miky um 13:25 am Sep. 28, 2002)
I connected switch and resistor between these pins, but it didn't work :(
When I'll see if I success? In POST I'll see new mulitiplier or only in OS?
I'm going to try it again.

AMD Athlon XP

Hi all. I have managed to do this modification according Pzed22. It works (almost) perfectly. The PC is stable. I have brown AGOIA 1600+. It is running 16*100Mhz. 17*100 is unstable even on 1.85V (highest possible in this board)
The problem is: If I disconnect powercord and then connect it back the PC will not start. (Blank Screan)  I must switch off the resistor/switch, start the PC on 800Mhz, then switch off (only by the ATX switch), turn on the resistor/switch and turn on the pc by ATX switch. Then it will work OK on 1600Mhz...
It is very strange.

PS:Pzed22 can you tell me your bios version?
ThanX

Miky: It doesn't matter when you switch it, it will take effect at the next reset. It can't  be perminantely connected, because of Haris's problem.
I don't see the multiplier at POST, but I see the speed, something like:
"Athlon(tm) Processor 1700MHz".

Haris: I have the same cold-boot problem. Only solution I know of is, never remove the power cord ;) I thought it was my weak power supply (265W), but maybe not.
It's a shame that a AGIOA doesn't work at 1700mhz, they usually do. 1.6g is
pretty good for a KT7 though!

I'm using Bios A9.

(((((((((((((((((-: I have average No-name 250W powersupply...
I have Gf4Ti 4200, Athlon XP at 1600Mhz (higher voltage), massive cooler Titan D5TBTC,modem,sb-live,ethernet card,one HDD,CD-RW,optical mouse.
It is possible that it is too much for 250W?? It could really by the couse of the problems...
I have strange problem:some times when I restrt my PC from Windows or by pressing CTR,ALT,DEL...it does not boot again (blank screen) I have to push reset button...then it normally starts and boot up.....
Otherwise the system seems to bee running stable. I am suspecting weak powersup. or wrong unlocking of the CPU??? What do you think?
ThanX
