AMD Athlon XP
1466 MHz mit 1.5 Volt


Hello. I can speak German but not too well. Hope you're not offended. Anyway, here's my problem. I have an Athlon XP 1700+@1466MHz and a KT266A mobo. Is there any way I can make this rig go any faster ? I can't oc the CPU using the BIOS cause there's no option for this (shitty ASRock board). I was thinking about increasing the CPU's multiplier. But I don't know exactly what to do.

a way to chnage the multie is to use the Pinmod described into the workshop. It needs some time to change the multie but isn't to hard to do. I testet pinmod several times sucessful on kt 133 based Bords, it always worked fine :thumb:

Yeah, I was thinking about that. The thing is that I don't know which voltage I should go for and which multiplier is safe for standard air cooling. I'd say that 13x is the maximum I could go for. That would turn my 1700 into a 2100.

Just try out in small steps.
I would guess for 13,5x133 it is not necessary to raise vcore.
My old 1700+ runs 2GHz with 1,6V it is not sure what your 1700+ can reach, form 1,8GHz to 2,2GHz with 1,6V everything could be possible, you have to find out in small steps what is possible.
If 13,5x133 is stable, try out 14x133, than 15x133, 16x133 and at least 16,5x133.Theese are the steps I would go.
If you recognize it is not stable, and the CPU temperature never reach 55°C you can raise your vcore to 1,65V
for this you need only one connection, because you must imagine the connection for 1,6V is just on the CPU.
This means only 1,6 1,65 1,8 and 1,85V are available

Edit: Is the normal voltage of your CPU 1,5V?
This would give you more possibilities to raise vcore in smaller steps

I've just checked the BIOS. The VCORE is ~1.65. Anyway, my biggest problem now is that I can't remove the heatsink. How nuts is that ???
It's just so tough fastened I can't find a way to remove it safely. Man, that "aergert mich" :) !!!

I often saw old heatsinks, the best ability to remove it is to use a screwdriver to push down the halt clamp, but make sure you find the right size, do not hit you motherboard!

Well. Be very carefull with the screwdriver.
A friend of me killed his 2-day old socket-A mainboard by hitting the mainboard while he tried to fit the heatsink.
