Review of postings for Want 2 pin-mod vcore Thorton w/o cutting L11, trial & error? (the latest posts first)
dergeert Erstellt: 22:47 am 17. Jan. 2004
thing is, your thorton is already set to 1.6v.

so you have the A+D+B "hardwired" within your L11.

resulting from this, you can only use combinations which already include those: 1.6v (trivial), 1.65, 1.8v, 1.85v.

if you want to do any other voltages, you need to cut one or more of the L11 obviously.

on the plus side, you don't need to put those wires into the socket, so you can reach the above voltages with inserting only one (1.65 [C], 1.8 [E]) or two (1.85 [E+C]) wires into the socket.

hope this helps you

p.s. you might want to have a look at the "interactive xp painting guide" as well, just to see how the voltages are coded in L11 (in case you decide to cut anyway)

I want to overclock and a voltage increase is necessary.

It's funny, but I charted through the Interactive Pin-Mod guide from voltage 1.475 to 1.850v and I noticed a pattern. There are a total of 5 possible connections which I will label "A", "B", "C", "D", and "E".
All options use A.  What follows is a table of voltage values and their needed wire connections.
1.475 A
1.500 A+B
1.525 A+C
1.550 A+B+C
1.575 A+D
1.600 A+D+ B
1.625 A+D+C
1.650 A+D+C+B
1.675 A+E
1.700 A+E+B
1.725 A+E+C
1.750 A+E+C+B
1.775 A+E+D
1.800 A+E+D+B
1.825 A+E+D+C
1.850 A+E+D+C+B

So,
wire B provides a voltage increase of .025v
wire C provides a voltage increase of .050v
wire D provides a voltage increase of .100v
wire E provides a voltage increase of .200v

Now I need to trial and error on the cpu and mainboard.

What exactly do you want to do? Raise the VCore? I belive your Thorton has normally 1,65V? than you can go to 1,85V. If this is too much you have to cut at least some L11 bridges. By Pinmod you must imagine that the wires from your default VCore are just in the socket.

I'm hopeful I can do this w/o incurring the risk involved with cutting the L11s.
Board: ECS k7VTA3
CPU: Thorton 2000+
If you have some experience with this, please relate.
Thanks
