Review of postings for USB IR-Receiver v1.1 lirc (the latest posts first)

But with irw , there 's nothing better

? :noidea:
Do you receive signals with irw (or mode2) or not?

When there's an error that irw can't connect, you might select the proper device.
Usually it's /dev/lirc but in some cases it could also be for example /dev/lirc0
In this case you can see the signals with:
Code

sudo mode2 --device /dev/lirc0

(escape with ctrl + c)

Did you already configure LIRC?
Code

sudo dpkg-reconfigure lirc

(select Igor plug ...)

Just write what you've already done and write your results.
Or read the LIRC step by step installation guide e.g. here or here

Just try a few Philips TV remote codes from your universal remote control to get a RC5 sequence.

Do you already see the igorplug device in your ubuntu?
To check it, type the following in your shell:
dmesg | grep -i usb
or
dmesg | grep lirc

Then check, if you already receive remote signals ... type:
irw
then press a few buttons on your remote (set your universal remote to a RC5 device like e.g. a Philips TV)
If you see buttons, you can download a remote control file or configure the remote buttons manually.
If not, then you didn't have selected the proper device in your LIRC - select the Igorplug.
