Review of postings for Cant close MP Bridge :( (the latest posts first)

Thanks , i sanded the surface of the chip down around the l5 bridge like you said (it's the old packageing without the traces on the surface) .

And then i filed down the point of one of my old soldering irons with a dremel and used silver solder to connect the bridge to the copper grid that i exposed by sanding down the surface of the chip.

Now sandra detects the cpu as being SMP capable

If your method work with another CPU maybe it was luck, or you did it in the right way
if you did it in the right way try again, don't know how your CPU looks like, generally it is said that you have to close the hole, burned by a laser when cutting the bridges, with some glue.
Than look for some very fine sandpaper to scrub the paint over the bridges.
And even if there is no paint it could be better for the connection.
And then try again to connect the bridges

Hi i'm haveing trouble getting my XP1800 jiuhb lt3c to be SMP enabled. I've tried cleaning , and painting the bridge with conductive ink , but sandra still says it's not SMP enabled.

I have another 1700 that i did the mod on and it worked! Sandra recognised the CPU as SMP enabled , so i know it's deffinatly the processor and not the motherboard.

Are there any other methods i can try to close the bridge , or any wire or pin mods to enable mp mode ?

Thanks very much for any help !
